Human Rights Group Demands Justice for Stripped Female Corps Member in Anambra
By Efa Sunday
The Haven Foundation, a human rights advocacy group, has condemned the brutal assault of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Miss Jennifer Edema Elohor, in Anambra State. The group is calling on Governor Charles Soludo and the Federal Government to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.
In a disturbing video shared on Tuesday via Facebook, Miss Jennifer was seen being beaten and stripped naked by five armed men. The attackers were alleged to be members of Operation Udo Ga-Achi, also known as the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, operating in the state.
Reports indicate that the armed men stormed the corps members’ lodge, accusing them of involvement in internet fraud. Despite the corps members presenting their NYSC identification cards and uniforms, they were still subjected to harassment and violence.
According to the Foundation, the victims’ families reached out to the group, narrating how Jennifer and others endured degrading treatment, including sexual slurs, physical abuse, and threats of further harm.
The Haven Foundation demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of all those involved. It also called for full compensation for the victims, citing the physical injuries, psychological trauma, and gross violation of their rights.
“The Anambra State Government must act swiftly and decisively against this abuse of power,” the group stressed, while also urging the Federal Government to step in and ensure justice prevails.
The Haven Foundation, based in Lagos, is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting human rights and securing access to justice for all, regardless of social or economic background.
