‘Effective Representation, Stakeholders Engagement & Not Social Media Noise, Define My Stewardship’ – Senator Eteng Williams
By Efa Sunday
Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has described effective representation, consistent stakeholders engagement, and verifiable grassroots interaction as the true measure of his stewardship, dismissing what he called social media noise questioning his performance as senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District.
The position is contained in a political affairs commentary written by Daniel Onen, which documents a series of townhall meetings and stakeholders engagements held by the Senator across the district as part of Point Three of his 10 point Strategic Legislative Agenda, focused on dialogue, transparency, and accountability.

“This engagement was not a one way communication. Community members openly raised issues and the Senator listened attentively, responded directly, and documented concerns,” the report stated.
The engagements continued in Ikom with a broader meeting involving stakeholders from Ikom, Obubra, Etung, and Boki local government areas. Key discussions focused on rural infrastructure, cross border security, education, and healthcare delivery. On Sunday, 20 April 2025, Senator Williams also met with stakeholders from Abi and Bahumono local government areas, engaging traditional rulers, youth leaders, women groups, and opinion leaders.
Daniel Onen described claims circulating on social media that the Senator had never held townhall meetings as false and misleading, noting that thousands of constituents have physically participated in these engagements.
The commentary concludes that Senator Eteng Jonah Williams’ consistent townhall meetings reflect a governance style anchored on participation, transparency, and direct accountability, stressing that representation is defined by visible action and measurable engagement, not online narratives.
